A library card allows you to borrow materials, use public computers, and access online resources. To get a library card, go to our In addition to a completed registration form you will need to bring:

  • Photo identification (driver’s license, passport, student I.D.)
  • Proof of your current address (recently postmarked mail, checks, rent receipt, etc.)

A parent or legal guardian must sign the registration sheet for children under 18 years of age. A parent’s identification may be used for minors. A parent or legal guardian has legal responsibility for his or her child’s use of the library.

To complete the registration process go to our online Library Card Registration page. Please remember to bring in your photo id and proof of address to pick up your library card.

Always bring your card when you come to the library. If you don’t have your card with you, you may check out one time by supplying identification.

Service Area:
Anyone may get a free library card. People who live outside of the library’s service area may apply for a card but will have limited borrowing privileges. The library’s service area includes the following counties: Chase, Clay, Dickinson, Geary, Lyon, Marion, Marshall, Morris, Pottawatomie, Riley, Wabaunsee, and Washington.

Lost or Stolen Cards
Notify the library immediately if your card is lost or stolen. Borrowers are responsible for the items checked out on their cards until the library has been notified. There is a $1.00 replacement fee for lost, damaged or stolen cards.
